Hotell Nya Varvet Studios changes name to Dockyard Hotel

Hotell Nya Varvet Studios is facing major changes. The name change marks the beginning and gives a big clue as to what direction the business will take, The hotel isn’t that well known at present, which is a shame.
This is something we intend to change! Over the next few years the hotel will transform from a sleepy, anonymous hotel to a vibrant resort that’s well worth a visit all year round. Needless to say inspiration for the name Dockyard Hotel comes from the area Nya Varvet is Swedish for ‘the new dockyard’ and the new name aims to strengthen the hotel’s sense of position in the port and by the river and its heritage from the shipbuilding industry.

Dockyard Hotel’s focus will continue to be the hotel, conferences and restaurant. During the initial stage Reveljen restaurant (formerly Ruckmans) is being rebuilt to increase its capacity and bring the entire operation under one roof. Furthermore, August 2016 sees the opening of Region Västra Götaland’s large conference centre, Campus, in Nya Varvet. This facility has a daily capacity of 700 people, which will have a very positive influence on Dockyard Hotel.
We will help bring a new lease of life to the area with various activities, both indoors and outdoors.
There are also plans for a guest harbour, obviously guests should be able to call at Dockyard Hotel from both land and sea.

As a result of these investments Dockyard Hotel, which is wholly owned by Källfelt Byggnads AB, will be a powerful driving force in the development of Nya Varvet and Älvstaden in Gothenburg.

Our aim is to create a hotel that is equally attractive to business travellers, conference guests and private guests, an oasis halfway between the sea and city.
